Robert Boon
Director
Since establishing the firm with Chris Johnson in 2015, I have focused predominantly on commercial property and business law matters. In doing so I advise a wide variety of clients of varying sizes and structures from all of the UK and internationally on occasion.
I have been involved in several high profile cases, including Pennistone Holdings Ltd v Rock Ferry Waterfront Trust [2021] EWCA Civ 1029, when the Court of Appeal revisited the question of when land is in ‘actual occupation’ for the purpose establishing an overriding interest under paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 to the Land Registration Act 2002.
I have also advised on property transactions with values exceeding £4 million and those concerning complex issues.
The majority of my business law work revolves around either contracts, (whether that be drafting or dealing with disputes) or assisting clients with business sales and purchases.
Along side my commercial and business law work, I also advise individuals in relation to residential property matters or civil litigation disputes.
I am keen to give back to the community where possible and regularly complete work for charitable organisations. Over the recent years we have supported organisations and charities such as Dial West Cheshire, WSBPS, Clatterbridge Hospital and Cheshire Lines Football Club.
In addition to my caseload, I am the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and for Finance and Administration (COFA) within the firm and supervise the residential Landlord and Tenant team.
I have also provided training to other legal firms within the area of residential landlord and tenant work who are seeking to expand their knowledge within a changing legal environment. This was particularly popular during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Outside of the office I am a keen football fan, with an interest in playing five-a-side and a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC.
